Our favourite 4 places to eat in Istria

Looking for places to eat in Istria? Here is a list of the places we tried during our recent trip:
For really good Pizza go to Kaos Pizza in Umag. It is a simple, but really good pizzeria where you'll find locals and tourists alike. Great pizza selection, really tasty and friendly, fast service! And the tiramisu was the icing on the cake, so yummy!!
Location:

For seafood and local delicacies, we tried Restaurant Porto in the old port of Savudrija. A cute, remote spot, directly at the old port with another great seafood restaurant next to it. Fabulous sunset spot, delicious local wine (try the Malvazija, my new favourite!), lovely service and really great food. The local truffle pasta is my favourite and I have to eat it at least once when I am in the area. Alex loved his fish and seafood choice of tuna tartare and seafood pasta. Really lovely family-run restaurant!

As truffle pasta only once was not enough, we found another lovely restaurant which served amazing truffle pasta, which is called Konoba Stari Podrum. We found it by chance after our visit to a winery close to the Slovenian border, loved the look and feel of it and got a table without a reservation. If you do want to eat here, I recommend you book a table ahead of your visit, it got very busy during our visit and it seemed popular with both tourists and locals. Service was excellent, the wine lovely and the black and white truffle pasta was maybe the best I've ever had.

Thanks to the blog www.insiderei.com I learned about Sea Streetfood and The Fish House in Rovinj. If you like fish and seafood and are in Rovinj, look it up. It is really worth a try! A small street foodie kind of place with little in and outdoor seating, great tasting food and always a little line of people waiting to grab a seat for a bite.
