The Beach
The beach is a long sandy beach, with only a few rocky patches. People either rent a strandkorb for the day or bring their beach towels. The water even in summer is cold, only about 18 degrees Celcius when we were there. It is definitely refreshing... If you have a dog with you, you can find some designated dog beaches where they can run free and go swimming too. All along the waterfront, you can find restaurants and shops where food, drink, and ice cream can be bought.
Cycling
The hotel rents out bicycles to their guests for 9€ per bike and day. Cycling is really easy in the area and a great, fun way to spend the day. All cycling paths are clearly signposted and it is pretty flat and easy to cycle everywhere. We went east towards the resort of Heiligendamm, which is Germany's oldest seaside resort, dating back to 1793 and is also being called the White City by the sea. The cycling path takes you next to the waterfront, past the fields, through the beautiful woods, and all along the way are rest areas where you can stop relax and enjoy the view. Take your swimming gear during the summer as the beaches in Heiligendamm are pretty good and perfect for a couple of hours of beach fun
