Ronda & Granada

Ronda
We visited the city of Ronda which is just over an hour away from Estepona high up in the mountains and it used to be one of the last Moorish bastions in the area. It is easy to get there by car and parking is clearly signposted when you get to Ronda. From there, everything is easily reachable by foot. I can definitely recommend a visit to the Plaza de Toros, a bullfight arena which was first opened in 1785 and is one of the oldest and most important arenas in Spain. Another must-see is the bridge called Puente Nuevo, the New Bridge which leads over a 100m deep canyon. A very impressive engineering masterpiece!

Granada
We of course also visited Granada, the highlight of this area with its very diverse history and great current music and art scene! If you want to visit the inside of the Alhambra, do not forget to book tickets quite a bit in advance. We didn't know and didn't have tickets, but as we were only there for a day it was okay to just see everything from the outside. Once you have walked all the way up to the Alhambra you have phenomenal views of Granada and the Sierra Nevada. For the best picture of the Alhambra go to the Mirador de San Nicolas! You will not be disappointed!
